These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FoodScanner mobile application ("App") and any associated services (collectively, "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
FoodScanner provides AI-powered food label scanning to help users identify whether food products are vegetarian, vegan, jain, eggetarian, or non-vegetarian. The Service also detects potential allergens based on ingredient information from food labels.
3. Disclaimer — Not Medical or Dietary Advice
FoodScanner is an informational tool only. Analysis results are generated by AI and may not be 100% accurate. You should:
- Always verify ingredients independently if you have severe allergies or strict dietary requirements
- Consult a medical professional or dietician for health-related dietary decisions
- Not rely solely on FoodScanner for life-critical dietary choices (e.g., severe anaphylactic allergies)
FoodScanner and its developers are not liable for any health consequences arising from use of or reliance on analysis results.
4. User Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account
- You may not use another person's account without permission
- You may use the app as a guest without creating an account
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or interfere with the Service
- Submit images that are not food-related for the purpose of circumventing safety measures
- Upload offensive, illegal, or harmful content
- Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the Service
6. Intellectual Property
All content, trademarks, and software associated with FoodScanner are owned by or licensed to us. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission.
You retain ownership of any content you provide (e.g., food images). By submitting content, you grant us a limited licence to process it solely to provide the Service.
7. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services (Google Firebase, Google Cloud Vision, Google Gemini). Your use of these integrations is also subject to those providers' terms of service. We are not responsible for third-party service interruptions or changes.
8. Service Availability
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, upgrades, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FoodScanner and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, health consequences, or financial loss arising from use of the Service.
Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $10 if you have paid nothing).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FoodScanner and its developers from any claims, losses, or damages (including legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of India.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, via an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time. See Delete Account for instructions. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
